The Lagos State Task Force in a bid to combat the rising criminal activities across the state on Tuesday destroyed the Asade Market, along the railway line in Agege which had been in existence for the past 32-years.

The law enforcement at about 8:20am rolled their bulldozers into the market, destroying shops, chalets, kiosks, stands and make-shift homes of the traders whom they alleged were hiding criminals.

“I am sure information reached the state government that some guys use this place as a safe haven. They rob women of their bags and also those inside traffic,” Titi said.

Speaking on the action of the task force, one of the traders who pleaded not to be mentioned disclosed that the Lagos state government had earlier warned them to vacate the area.

“They have told us to leave this place. Although, we pleaded that they give us more time in which they have accepted. I was surprised to see them here this morning,” he said.

A shop owner identified as Titi in the Asade modern market, said miscreants who pretend to be traders rob passers-by as well as motorists caught in traffic in the area.
